After a successful summer, the PersonhoodNow! project has finally come to a close. In this final blog update, the team would like to catch you up on what's gone on since our last blog update and fill you in on what we're looking toward in the future.

Our last weeks of the project we're spent traveling throughout the state (literally, we reached every part of the state) working with local contacts.

After leaving Sarasota and Ft. Myers, we hit the road to Naples. We started off the trip by petitioning at Sonrise Christian Church which is pastored by our good friend, Mr. Tom Harris. The church family is actively involved in engaging culture. They wholeheartedly signed the petition and took thousands more for others to sign. We scooted out the door in order to visit a Grace Bible Church potluck where we spoke with the pastor of several satellite churches about getting his congregation involved.

Our hospitable hosts in Naples were the Scofield family who entertained us with exciting games of Balderdash and filled us up with lots of healthy food! We spent a day dropping off information packets to local churches and taught a training workshop for a large group of volunteers. Members and leaders of a local chapter of the Institute for Cultural Communicators attended our training event. They took thousands of petitions and decided to take on petition circulation as a group project over this next year. The church that hosted the training workshop, New Hope Ministries, rolled out the red carpet for us: They provided audio and video recording of our workshop. These recordings can be used by PersonhoodUSA to train people across the country.

The cherry on the sundae was when we were invited to an event with keynote speaker and pro-life leader, Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She herself has been involved with personhood efforts in her home state of Georgia, so she was delighted to hear about all of our progress when spoke to her before the program. During her presentation, she asked us to tell the audience about ourselves and what we are doing. Plus she thought our iPerson shirts were pretty rockin' and had one of our PersonhoodNow! volunteers come to the front to model one for the rest of the group. (What more reason do you need to order one for yourself? Visit PersonhoodUSA's online store to get your very own!). The PersonhoodNow! team was also interviewed by the Naples Daily Times during the event.

On our way from Naples to to the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area, we stopped at the Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park in order to stamp our National Parks Passports. We went a little further south of our destination by going to Key Largo and stretching out on beaches of the Keys.

Our friends, the Forman Family put us up (put up with us?) in Fort Lauderdale. They were such a blessing! In Fort Lauderdale, we contacted churches, met with pastors, conducted a training workshop and circulated the petition at a sunday church service at the First Christian Church of Fort Lauderdale. On Saturday afternoon, we petitioned outside a gun show. The response was mixed, but positive overall. We got into several great conversations and were able to challenge others opinions on the issue.

Our last stop of our tour of the state was the city of Jacksonville. Sarah Brooke is an all amazing PersonhoodNow! youth volunteer. In addition to finishing up courses and preparing to travel abroad for a scholastic competition, she set up several events for us to petition at, got us in contact with several churches, and wrangled a sizable crowd into coming to our training workshop. Our hosts, the Baker family, deserve an honorable mention as well. They were a very hospitable and fun family. While in Jacksonville, we met with local pastor and trained excited petitioners.

After bidding our farewell to the people of Jacksonville, we hit the road. Austin, dropped off the rest of the team in Atlanta, GA on his way back to Texas to start summer college courses. The rest of the team traveled to the Institute for Cultural Communicators' National Convention in Maryland in order to staff the event and share the Personhood message, before returning to their respective home states.

While the PersonhoodNow! Team is no longer barnstorming the state of Florida, PersonhoodFL is continuing to gain momentum. A major focus of our project was to train others and help build a statewide network of pro-life leaders. Our group was also a "guinea pig" project to see what a PersonhoodFL action team might look like. To our great satisfaction, action teams are sprouting up around the state! To find out how you can be involved, visit PersonhoodFL.com and sign up as a volunteer.

Goodbye for now from the PersonhoodNow! team. Thank you all for your prayers and support. Now go, be encouraged, and keep up the good fight for the Lord's precious children!

A Truth Which Cannot Be Shaken - DAVID JEFFERS

Responding to yesterday's devotional, a devoted reader wrote:

I do get extremely discouraged when so many of our churches have jumped on the feel good, good life now, social justice 40 days bandwagon. Many of our Theological Universities as well have students coming in who don't know the authors of the gospels, and the core message they learn has very little to do with sin, redemption or any of the meat of Jesus' purpose. How can we ever hope to change our country?
How indeed...
Yesterday I wrote that I was advocating that the Bible be taught in self-described American Christian homes. One of the reasons is that as time goes on the days will get darker and so we have a choice. We can curse the darkness, rail against the machine, mock the mockers, scoff the scoffers, and generally chase the latest issue and/or conspiracy all the while ignoring the spiritual health of our families and failing to witness to our lost friends, relatives, associates, and neighbors (aka FRANgelism).
Or, we can read our Bibles, attend Bible study during Sunday school at our churches, have family devotional times, and maybe even a neighborhood Bible study on a certain issue. Why not dissect the state of immorality through a biblical lens instead of the television or newspaper?
I need positive reinforcement when I look out on the national landscape. Pessimism can overtake my soul, discouraging my spirit if I am only looking with human eyes. I need Jesus' eyes to understand all that is going on in this world. The Psalmist wrote:
"Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God." (Psalm 42:11)
Praising God because He is still on His throne is how I overcome despair. Understanding that King Jesus is in charge of the universe allows me to not look upon this time as hopeless, but as an opportunity to share the truths of the Bible and the need for Jesus. Will I do that?
And will I trust Jesus in my times of discouragement? Is He or is He not the rock of my salvation?
"Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth." (Psalm 71:4-5)
Beloved trust me when I say that I can be easily discouraged if my soul is fed only by the Drudge Report, FOXNews, and World Net Daily and that is because the rats are winning the rat race. But those things are all temporal and my eyes need to be focused on the eternal.
"But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; my steps had nearly slipped. For I was envious of the boastful, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked." (Psalm 73:2-3)
See if these words from Matthew Henry, written over 400 years ago, do not ring true in your spirit today:
"The psalmist was strongly tempted to envy the prosperity of the wicked; a common temptation, which has tried the graces of many saints. But he lays down the great principle by which he resolved to abide. It is the goodness of God. This is a truth which cannot be shaken. Good thoughts of God will fortify against Satan's temptations. The faith even of strong believers may be sorely shaken, and ready to fail. There are storms that will try the firmest anchors. Foolish and wicked people have sometimes a great share of outward prosperity. They seem to have the least share of the troubles of this life; and they seem to have the greatest share of its comforts. They live without the fear of God, yet they prosper, and get on in the world. Wicked men often spend their lives without much sickness, and end them without great pain, while many godly persons scarcely know what health is, and die with great sufferings...It is not vain to serve God and keep His ordinances."

It is vital that I keep seeking the Scriptures for wisdom, guidance, and comfort in the days in which we live. John Adams was a great man because he not only was a godly man, but also he had a godly wife. Abigail Adams too got discouraged at times, times we have absolutely no idea what it is like to endure. And yet, although Abigail shared her heart and fears with John, she always relied on God. I leave you with her words to her beloved husband in a letter written September 16, 1775. Notice how it starts out looking at the temporal (the specifics I left out) and ends with eyes to the eternal:
"I set myself down to write with a heart depressed with the melancholy scenes around me...And unto Him who mounts the whirlwind and directs the storm, I will cheerfully leave the ordering of my lot and whether adverse or prosperous days should be my future portion, I will trust in His right Hand to lead me safely through, and after a short rotation of events, fix me in a state immutable and happy...Adieu! I need not say how sincerely I am your affectionate."

United States defaults on 222 year old obligation! [the 17th Amendment's corruption of federalism]

This month we celebrate the ratification of the US Constitution back on June 21st of 1788. The Constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation as the authorization for the operation of a federal government as the means to facilitate the cooperation between the several sovereign and united states.

Although the federal government was authorized with relatively few responsibilities, it has defaulted on its obligations. Here is one of the most obvious failures of the federal government.

The federal government has failed to maintain a republican form of government as guaranteed in Article 4, Section 4. Two contributing factors to this failure are the adoption of the 17th Amendment to the Constitution and the ignorance and/or corruption of our elected representatives.

The 17th Amendment works in opposition to the original intent and delicate balance that our founding fathers set forth in the Constitution. When all of our representatives are directly elected by pluralities, then we have a convoluted democracy, think tyranny by the majority, not a republic. Additionally, with this change, the states lost their only direct representation in the federal system. The 17th Amendment can be called the Mob Rule Amendment.

Then, there are ignorant or corrupt elected officials who have abandoned the principles of republican government. When our representatives pander to the voters so that they might stay in elected office in perpetuity, they often give into the will of the majority and ignore the constitution. Our representatives take an oath to defend and be faithful to our Constitution, not to bend to the will of their constituents or to be reelected! A republican form of government means that the rule of law, namely the Constitution, reigns supreme, not the fancy of the majority at any given time. Not having the manhood to stand up to the majority and defend the rule of law shows either a sever lack of understanding of the Constitution or a blatant disregard for it.

WASHINGTON, June 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- Chaplain Klingenschmitt has contracted with a team of investigative journalists including Brian Camenker, Amy Contrada and Peter LaBarbera to investigate and report breaking news about Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan.

While serving as Dean of Harvard Law School, Kagan's administration demanded and forced Blue-Cross, Blue-Shield to cover sex-change operations as an "equal right" paid benefit, harming gender-confused students, as confirmed in 2006 and 2008 by Harvard Crimson newspaper articles.

Kagan also offered sympathetic ear to lesbian group Lambda's Transgender Task Force demand to force all women to share public bathrooms and locker-rooms with cross-dressing men, which is now part of Harvard's dormitory policy, according to the report.

"This is further proof Elena Kagan cannot be trusted to impartially rule on Obamacare or bathroom bills like ENDA, since she believes sin is a Constitutional right," said Chaplain Klingenschmitt, "but rights come from God, who never grants the right to sin."

Excerpts from the breaking news report, with links to original proof sources, are now posted online at http://prayinjesusname.org/kagan, with further support at www.massresistance.org/docs/gen/10b/kagan/index.html.

Concerned citizens are encouraged to sign a petition which will be automatically faxed to 100 Senators encouraging them to filibuster and vote against Kagan's nomination to the Supreme Court, at www.prayinjesusname.org/kagan.

Obama on Jobs: Worst Track Record in History

Obama: Worst President in History

Progressive Policies are Losing 4.2 Million Jobs Annually

By: Larry Walker, Jr.

On January 9, 2009, a staff writer for the Wall Street Journal wrote a smear piece entitled, “Bush On Jobs: The Worst Track Record On Record,” in which an attempt was made to show that Bush was somehow the worst President, and that therefore, Conservative economic policies (i.e. tax cuts) don’t work.

According to the staff writer, George W, Bush created a dismal +375,000 jobs per year during his eight year term; Bill Clinton created +2.9 million jobs per year; while George H.W. Bush created +625,000; Reagan prospered by +2.0 million; Carter by +2.6 million; etc… The staff writer also went into population growth during each term and the percentage of change in the population (for whatever reason). You can find the smear piece and the WSJ table here. Following is an excerpt:

President George W. Bush entered office in 2001 just as a recession was starting, and is preparing to leave in the middle of a long one. That’s almost 22 months of recession during his 96 months in office.

His job-creation record won’t look much better. The Bush administration created about three million jobs (net) over its eight years, a fraction of the 23 million jobs created under President Bill Clinton’s administration and only slightly better than President George H.W. Bush did in his four years in office.

Naturally it is important to use this same benchmark to measure how Barack H. Obama stacks up against his predecessors. So I went over to the good old Bureau of Labor Statistics website and made up my own table, based on the raw data. I brought my chart up to date through May 31, 2010. True, Obama has only been in office for 17 month’s, but we can at least get an idea of how he measures up.

Like the WSJ writer, the counts are based on total payrolls between the start of the month the president took office (using the final payroll count for the end of the prior December) and his final December in office (May 31, 2010 for Obama). Thus, there is no blaming the last POTUS for inheriting a bad economy, and no foul in taking credit for inheriting a good one. After all, being President is about leadership, and leaders take what is in front of them and do the best they can.

(Click to Enlarge)" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2YvXTEZIY7Q/TClp34yHITI/AAAAAAAAA1Y/KhGokokh7-I/s400/Jobs+by+President.JPG" border="0">

According to my table, Barack Obama has lost a total of -4.2 million jobs per year, making him, to date, the worst President in history. G.W. Bush actually created 1.1 million jobs per year during his eight-year term. Bill Clinton is responsible for 2.3 million jobs in each of his years. George H. W. Bush can lay claim to 881,000 during each of his four years. Reagan gets credit for 2.0 million jobs per year. And finally, even Jimmy Carter can boast in having created 2.6 million. Net job creation is so much better than, economy killing, Progressive policies that there really is no comparison.

Now I am not naïve enough to believe that Presidents, or the governments for that matter, are responsible for job creation, but if you want to make that case, at least get the numbers right. It looks like the WSJ staffer padded Clinton’s numbers while taking away from both of the Bush’s. At the same time, he did manage to get both Reagan's and Carter’s numbers right.

In conclusion, thus far, the Progressive policies of Barack H. Obama are failing. There ought to be a law. Actually there is a law. It’s called, 'The Law of Supply and Demand’. When prices fall, demand increases. When taxes are reduced, investment, production and employment increase. And when supply is increased, prices fall, leading to increased demand. Government intervention in the private sector has never worked, and it never will. Reducing the size of government, lowering taxes, and decreasing government regulation actually work after all. We will most definitely be following up.

Please help today to keep the Life and Liberty Report going strong

To all of my conservative friends,

The list of important projects in the cause of restoring this republic that we are helping with on a consistent basis is long. Those who are closely involved with what we're doing can vouch for that.

Almost all of those tasks are done on a strictly volunteer basis for AIP organizations and projects, including the many hours I spend helping to build up AIPNews.com and the Life and Liberty Report.

We work at it hard every day, and do all that we can do.

For the most part we rely on donations to this website for our family's daily sustenance, and to keep our basic utilities on. We are NOT wealthy people, in the financial sense.

We don't ask for help very often, and once again we're falling behind a bit.

We absolutely need to raise at least a thousand dollars by tomorrow, and we really need quite a bit more than that.

Every little bit helps, though, believe me. Even twenty-five or fifty bucks.

Remember, America's Independent Party takes no donations, and we intend to keep it that way. If you give you're supporting Life and Liberty Report and my family's private efforts, not the party.

Here's the donate link:

More Than My Necessary Food - DAVID JEFFERS

AIPNews.com

AIP is 'Always In Prayer' Network

June 28, 2010

David Jeffers

In this day and age of appetite suppressants and obesity, the last thing most Americans need is an increased appetite. Physically speaking I definitely don't need my appetite increased.
But what about spiritually? I would feel safe in saying that 90% of you reading this do not read or barely read your Bibles on a daily basis. Of that ninety percent half of you rely solely on this devotional and/or another devotional such as Our Daily Bread. Most of you have no trouble finding your Bibles on Sunday morning because it is exactly where you left it the previous Sunday.
Karen and I were driving back from Alabama on Saturday and we were discussing our family's spiritual health and I said that my prayer for our family, me especially, was that God would increase our appetites for His Word.
When Job's "friends" came to "help him" during his time of despair, Eliphaz accused Job of wickedness (see Job 22). In Job 23, Job proclaims God’s righteous judgments and knows that God would declare Job righteous:

"But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot has held fast to His steps; I have kept His way and not turned aside. I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food." (Job 23:10-12)

Imagine if Christians treasured God's Word, the Holy bible, more than food. If that were to happen then the revival we all seek would come to the American Church; there would be nothing God couldn't accomplish through His people.

Before you protest and say you do love His word, let me stop you and say directly, "No you don't."

You don't love God's Word more than your favorite TV show, more than the Internet, more than your hobby, more than your favorite outdoor activity, more than a loved one, or more than sleep for that matter. If you did reading your Bible would not be the activity that takes the least amount of your time during the day, if it takes any of your time during the day.

Can you imagine your Christian walk if the psalmist's words were true in your life?

"How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" (Psalm 119:103)

Imagine your Christian walk if we approached the Bible in the manner David did:

"The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward. " (Psalm 19:7-11)

How important was the Bible to our Founding Fathers? To listen to present day historical revisionists, not at all. I could list dozens of quotes disputing that fact but let me quote a somewhat historically obscure founder albeit very influential. Fisher Ames was a Congressman from Massachusetts when the Bill of Rights were being formulated. It was Ames who suggested these words to the First Amendment:

"Congress shall make no law establishing religion, or to prevent the free exercise thereof, or to infringe the rights of conscience."

Was Fisher Ames thinking of "separation of church and state" at that time? Not in the present day vernacular. Notice his comment one month after he suggested the above words:

"We have a dangerous trend beginning to take place in our education. We're starting to put more and more textbooks into our schools...We've become accustomed of late of putting little books into the hands of children containing fables and moral lessons...We are spending less time in the classroom on the Bible, which should be the principal text in our schools...The Bible states these great moral lessons better than any other manmade book."

Fisher Ames would be excoriated in today's press for those words. I would guess that Mr. Ames would stand solid as a rock against today's tide to dumb down America and kick Jesus out of every facet of society. Read more of his beliefs concerning education:

"Should not the Bible regain the place it once held as a schoolbook? Its morals are pure, its examples are captivating and noble...The reverence for the sacred book that is thus early impressed long lasts; and, probably, if not impressed in infancy, never takes firm hold of the mind...In no Book is there so good English, so pure and so elegant, and by teaching all the same they will speak alike, and the Bible will justly remain the standard of language as well as faith."

That would never happen again in America most of you are no doubt thinking. You're right, it went away because of acquiescing Christians and it will stay away because of cowardly Christians. Am I advocating that the Bible be taught in American schools? No, government schools are too far gone for rescue in my mind. What I am advocating is that the Bible be taught in self-described American Christian homes.

Just imagine...

In Christ
Dave
