A Declaration of Personhood Now!
'The Personhood Imperative'
By Jay Rogers. Posted July 06, 2010.
Above: The Personhood NOW Team in Florida
I recently talked to a nationally known Christian leader who opposes the Personhood Amendment in the state of Florida. His reasoning was that with the current make-up of the Supreme Court, that it is “bad timing.” I then asked him what was his organization’s plan to finally ending all child killing in Florida. He said, “We want a Human Life Amendment to the Constitution. No question!” But as for right now, he opposes any attempt at it. He is also weighing if he should publicly make a statement against Personhood.
Then I thought about the oddity of making such a statement. These “pro-life” organizations publicly ally themselves with the pro-abortion advocates who oppose Personhood, but they secretly hope to switch sides once they will see that Personhood Amendments are gaining ground. They even agree that we will win eventually. It reminds me of the Italians in World War Two. No one today remembers that the nation of Italy eventually helped defeat Hitler. They only remember Mussolini. They remember that Christian leaders in Italy did not do enough to oppose Hitler. That is how the “Christian” enemies of Personhood will be remembered too.
I can understand the “timing” issue. There is a time when a frontal assault may not be wise. American troops didn’t enter the front against Hitler until we thought we could win. But we did what we could in the meantime to show our support for nations such as Great Britain who were already in the thick of the battle. In any case, I can’t understand working against a strategy that we think must eventually win.
What we need to say to the “pro-life” enemies of the state Personhood Amendments, is that this is a battle for “right now.” This is not a political or social battle. It is a covenantal battle. Pro-abortion laws are not fought against because of political expediency. Child murder is a gross act of rebellion and idolatry against God.
We will be judged by God and by history as to whether we obeyed from the beginning. Partial obedience is disobedience. Delayed obedience is disobedience. Incremental obedience is disobedience. God requires total obedience to the best of our knowledge and ability.
The war isn’t going to be won by a clever or pragmatic approach. It is going to be won because God sees full repentance among a remnant of His people. I submit that the remnant is here, but simply needs to be activated with this knowledge that we are in a covenantal battle and that we will inevitably win the war if we obey. If we work toward Personhood NOW, we will eventually get there. If we delay our obedience, then we will be counted among those who opposed Personhood when our support was needed the most.

Washington, DC (06 July 2010) – Judie Brown, president of American Life League, issued the following statement in response to Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Richards issued an action alert July 4 calling for abortions at military hospitals.
“On the very day we celebrate the American dream of promoting and protecting liberty and human rights for all, for which hundreds of thousands of patriots have shed their blood, Cecile Richards, the abortion industry’s current matriarch, has a better idea: enshrining child killing on our military bases.
“Abortion is nothing more or less than an atrocity—an unspeakable violation of human rights and an affront to the American dream. For Cecile Richards to brazenly insist that American military bases, which symbolize “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” for millions worldwide, should participate in this genocide is a slap in the face to every soldier and every patriot who ever pledged allegiance to the American flag and all it stands for.
“Has this woman no shame? I don’t know what kind of macabre Fourth of July party the Richards family celebrates, but for American Life League, Independence Day was a joyful yet sobering call to national renewal. Our mission is that of the Founding Fathers and American patriots for over two centuries: to make the thrilling words of the Declaration of Independence a reality. We will not rest until all Americans are recognized as equal and protected under the law as human persons.
“Planned Parenthood has once again made loud and clear its disdain for liberty and equality, its hatred of American principles and its desire to defraud Americans of their inalienable rights. We are putting Planned Parenthood on notice: Americans will not long remain deaf to the demands of justice.”
American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. The paper has not yet been added to the scientific journal's website , but an earlier working paper detailing the research is available from Stanford website:
Healy, Andrew, Neil Malhotra, and Cecilia Mo. "Do Irrelevant Events Affect Voters' Decisions? Implications for Retrospective Voting." Stanford Graduate School of Business Working Paper No. 2034, November 3, 2009 -- http://www.stanford.edu/%7Eneilm/wp5.pdf
The authors conclude that the difference is not due to any change in turnout, but rather to the changed decision of individuals who would have voted anyway. The effect was seen in presidential, gubernatorial, and U.S. Senate elections.

Employment Situation Worse: Year-Over-Year

Employment Situation Worse: Year-Over-Year
By: Larry Walker, Jr.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released their employment situation report on Friday July 2, 2010. My analysis is meant to expose facts that most casual observers ignore. Instead of the general month-to-month comparison, I am assessing changes in the employment situation over the last twelve months. This expanded view will tell us whether or not the Recovery Act is working. I will begin with my conclusions, followed by excerpts from the BLS report, and end with my analysis.
Conclusion: The employment situation is worse than it was a year ago. Although the U-6 unemployment rate stood unchanged at 16.5%, the population increased by 2.0 million, while the labor force fell by 1.0 million, making the employment situation unsustainable. The number of marginally attached and discouraged workers rose to 2.6 million, an increase of 415,000 year-over-year. The number of unemployed persons rose by 317,000. There are 919,000 fewer jobs than there were a year ago.
So much for, “the recovery is working.” So much for Progressive-Economics, the main tenets of which appear to be:
Borrow huge sums of money from taxpayers and foreigners.
Spend it in ways that won’t necessarily lead to job creation (i.e. tax cuts for all except for those who would use it to create jobs; more government jobs; mandatory health care; etc…)
Raise taxes on the remaining smaller pool of workers who survive Steps 1 and 2, in order to pay for Step 1.
Repeat Steps 1 through 3 (if you manage to survive after Step 2).
The following excerpts are from the latest BLS report entitled, THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION -- JUNE 2010:
Total nonfarm payroll employment declined by 125,000 in June, and the unemployment rate edged down to 9.5 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. The decline in payroll employment reflected a decrease (-225,000) in the number of temporary employees working on Census 2010. Private-sector payroll employment edged up by 83,000….
Both the number of unemployed persons, at 14.6 million, and the unemployment rate, at 9.5 percent, edged down in June….
In June, the number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks and over) was unchanged at 6.8 million. These individuals made up 45.5 percent of unemployed persons….
In June, about 2.6 million persons were marginally attached to the labor force, an increase of 415,000 from a year earlier. (The data are not seasonally adjusted.) These individuals were not in the labor force, wanted and were available for work, and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months. They were not counted as unemployed because they had not searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey….
Among the marginally attached, there were 1.2 million discouraged workers in June, up by 414,000 from a year earlier. (The data are not seasonally adjusted.) Discouraged workers are persons not currently looking for work because they believe no jobs are available for them. The remaining 1.4 million persons marginally attached to the labor force had not searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey for reasons such as school attendance or family responsibilities….
