Washington D.C.- Congressman Steve King (R-IA) today announced that efforts to force the House of Representatives to vote on legislation providing for a 100% repeal of “Obamacare” continued to gain momentum, with the addition of the 153rd signature. Once the discharge petition reaches 218 signatures, Speaker Pelosi will not be able to prevent the repeal legislation from receiving, and passing, a vote on the floor.

“Efforts to repeal the deeply unpopular ‘Obamacare’ bill continue to gather momentum,” said King. “We now have 153 Members of the House of Representatives on record calling for full repeal of ‘Obamacare’, including Republican Leader Boehner, Republican Whip Cantor and GOP Conference Chairman Pence. I expect these numbers to continue to swell."

A list of Members who have signed on to the legislation (organized by state) has been provided below:

Washington, DCAmerican Life League Vice President Jim Sedlak issued the following statement on the Pro-Life Freedom Rides scheduled to begin Friday, July 23:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Freedom Riders as they launch an exciting crusade that seeks to bring to the forefront the need to secure the equal rights of all human beings. With the blessings of God, we hope to see this effort spread across the country and into every community.

“Like their forebearers in the civil rights movement, those embarking on Freedom Rides this weekend will be taking a public stand for truth, justice and equal protection under the law.

“The pro-life movement is indeed the civil rights movement of the 21st century. More and more Americans are rising up against oppression of the weakest and most helpless among us, and taking a stand for freedom. Let this Freedom Ride across the country be a clarion call for all people of good will to join together to work for the day when America recognizes the dignity and personhood of all human beings – in particular, the preborn and other vulnerable persons.

“We call on all Americans to welcome these Freedom Riders with open arms. The time has come to recognize the personhood of all people in the town square of every city. The time has come for personhood NOW.”

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. The Twin Towers were destroyed on 9/11 by adherents to the barbaric, supremacist and totalitarian program authoritative Islam calls "Shariah." And the imam who is promoting this mosque has publicly declared that he seeks to "bring Shariah to America."

Saint Shirley Sherrod: Shut Down BigGovernment.com for Good of the Country

AIPNews.com

Helen Moore's Obama Watch - 'Say NO to Socialism!'

FreeRepublic.com

July 22, 2010

Kristinn Taylor

Former USDA official Shirley Sherrod, who claims she was falsely smeared as a racist while she herself falsely smears Republicans and Fox News as racists, said this morning that she would like to see BigGovernment.com, the website that made her famous, shut down for the good of the country.

CNN's American Morning reported on Sherrod's demand:

She said if Breitbart's site were shut down, "That would be a great thing, because I don't see how that advances us in this country ... at a time when we should be trying to look at how we can make space for all of us in this country, so that we can all live and work together, he's doing more to divide us."

Sherrod also told CNN she is considering suing Andrew Breitbart, the owner of Big Government:

"I really think I should. You know, I don't know a lot about the legal profession, but that's one person I'd like to get back at. Because he came at me. You know, he didn't go after the NAACP. He came at me."

Yesterday, in an interview with the Democrat front group Media Matters, Sherrod smeared Fox News as wanting to take blacks back to the Jim Crow era:

... they would love to take us back to where we were many years ago. Back to where black people were looking down, not looking white folks in the face, not being able to compete for a job out there and not be a whole person."

In the same speech given in March to the NAACP that initially got Sherrod fired by the Obama administration, Sherrod smeared Republicans as racists for opposing Barack Obama's government takeover of healthcare:

"Some of the racism we thought was buried, didn't it surface? Now we endured eight years of the Bushes, and we didn't do the stuff these Republicans are doing because you have a black president."

Sherrod is being annointed as a saint by the media for her claim to have overcome her own racism. She is even being compared to Nelson Mandela. Yet to this day she speaks in starkly racist terms of "my people" and "his own kind" while flinging the race card as skillfully as Jesse Jackson at her perceived political opponents.

She also has revealed a leftist totalitarian streak. It's no wonder the communists from ANSWER and Code Pink were out supporting her yesterday:

Marine Miraculously Survives Enemy Bomb Blast

AIPNews.com

'America's Heroes, America's Principles'

American Forces Press Service

By U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Mark Fayloga
Regimental Combat Team 7

SOUTHERN SHORSURAK, Afghanistan, July 21, 2010 – Marine Corps Cpl. Matt Garst continues to do his job here, thanks to an enemy-emplaced roadside bomb that malfunctioned.

Click photo for screen-resolution image
U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Matt Garst absorbed the direct blast of an improvised explosive device in Shorsurak, Afghanistan, June 23, 2010. Fortunately for Garst, the bomb’s explosives didn’t completely detonate. After spending a day to rest and attend to some aches and pains, Garst continued his mission. Courtesy photo

(Click photo for screen-resolution image);high-resolution image available.
Few people survive stepping on an improvised explosive device. Even fewer walk away the same day after directly absorbing the force of the blast, but on June 23, Garst did just that.

A squad leader with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, Garst was leading his troops that day on a patrol in Southern Shorsurak, Afghanistan, to establish a vehicle checkpoint in support of Operation New Dawn.

The group was four miles from Lima Company’s newly established observation post when they approached an abandoned compound close to where they needed to set up their checkpoint. The compound would serve well as an operating base — a place for the squad to set up communications and rotate Marines in and out of. But first, it had to be secured.

As they swept the area with a metal detector, the buried IED registered no metallic signature – it was too deep under the soil. Two men walked over it without it detonating.

At 6 feet 2 inches tall and 260 pounds with all his gear on, Garst is easily the largest man in his squad by 30 or 40 pounds — just enough extra weight to trigger the IED buried deep in hard-packed soil.

Lance Cpl. Edgar Jones, a combat engineer with the squad, found a pressure plate inside the compound and hollered to Garst, asking what he should do with it. Garst turned around to answer and he stepped on the bomb.

“I can just barely remember the boom,” Garst recalled. “I remember the start of a loud noise and then I blacked out.”

Since Garst's encounter with the IED, his tale has spread through the rest of the battalion, and as often happens in combat units, the story mutates and becomes more and more extraordinary.

What really happened even eludes Garst. When he came to, he was standing on his feet holding his weapon, turning to see the remnants of the blast and wondering why his squad had a look on their faces as if they’d seen a ghost.

Marines in Lima Company think Garst is the luckiest guy in the battalion, and while that may seem a fair assessment, it actually was the enemy’s shoddy work that left Garst alive and relatively uninjured. The three-liters of homemade explosive had only partially detonated.

Marines who witnessed the event from inside the compound caught glimpses of Garst’s feet flailing through the air just above the other side of the building’s eight-foot-high walls. The explosion knocked him at least fifteen feet away, where he landed on his limp head and shoulders before immediately standing back up.

Not quite sure of what had just happened, Garst turned back toward the blast, now nothing but a column of dirt and smoke rising toward the sun.

Garst said he’d immediately realized that he’d encountered an IED.

“Then I thought, ‘Well I’m standing. That’s good,’” he recalled.

Garst then directed his troops to establish a security perimeter while letting them know that he was OK. Garst also radioed back to base, calling for an explosive ordnance disposal team and a quick-reaction force.

“I called them and said, ‘Hey, I just got blown up. Get ready,’” Garst recalled. “The guy thought I was joking at first. ‘You got blown up? You’re not calling me. Get out of here!’”

Once the area was cleared, Garst led his squad the four miles back to their observation post — just hours after he’d been buffeted by the IED blast.

“I wasn’t going to let anybody else take my squad back after they’d been there for me,” he said. “That’s my job.”

Garst awakened the next day with a pounding headache, he recalled, and felt as sore as he’d ever been in his life.

“Just getting up from trying to sleep was painful,” he said.

But he saw no reason being sore should slow him down. After a day of rest, Garst was back out on patrol, showing his Marines and the enemy that just like his resolve, he is unbreakable.

81.1% of Georgia Voters say “Yes” to Personhood Amendment!

AIPNews.com

America's Party of Georgia

PersonhoodUSA

Throughout the state yesterday, citizens had a chance to express their sentiment regarding the important policy question of when life begins and when it should be protected in law. Select metro counties throughout Georgia placed the following question on their respective ballots:

“Do you support an amendment to the Georgia State Constitution so as to provide that the paramount right to life is vested in each
human being from their earliest biological beginning until natural death?”

The amendment passed overwhelmingly in all 46 counties. 323,474 total votes were cast and the average margin of voters approving the question was an amazing 81.1%!

Georgia Right to life chapters began work this spring in requesting that their local county parties place this non-binding “party” question on their local party ballots. Both Democrat and Republican parties were approached. Butts county was the only county to succeed in getting both parties to cooperate and approve the measure (Republicans 79% and the Democrats 72% . “There is no question that the people of Georgia would pass a Personhood Amendment” IF given the chance!”, says Dan Becker, President of Georgia Right to Life. “The ball is now in the Legislature’s hands to allow the people a voice on the most pressing human rights issue of the 21st century . . . deny them at your own peril.”

The passage of the question sends a strong message to our legislature that Georgia is pro-life and that its voters desire an opportunity to vote on the issue of when life begins. In 2011, GRTL will use the results of the ballot to lobby the Georgia Legislature to place a constitutional amendment on the 2012 general election ballot. A super-majority of each chamber of the Georgia General Assembly is required to place the Personhood Amendment on the ballot. Once placed on the ballot, it would require a majority vote from the citizens of Georgia (50% plus 1 vote) for the item’s passage.

The following counties voted “YES” on the Personhood question on July 20, 2010:

Bacon, Banks, Bartow, Brantley, Bulloch, Burke, Butts (BOTH Republican and Democrat ballots), Carroll, Chatham, Cherokee, Clayton, Coffee, Colquitt, DeKalb, Dooly, Fannin, Fulton, Glynn, Gordon, Gwinnett, Hall, Hart, Jackson, Jasper, Jeff Davis, Jones, Lamar, Liberty, Lowndes, Murray, Muscogee, Paulding, Pickens, Pierce, Spalding, Thomas, Tift, Towns, Troup, Twigs, Union, Walker, Walton, Ware, Wilcox, and Worth.

Personhood In Montana Delayed, Not Defeated

AIPNews.com

America's Independent Party of Montana

PersonhoodUSA

July 20, 2010

Keith Mason

Billings, MT – The Montana Personhood Amendment Initiative CI-102 volunteers received news yesterday that they were just 6,000 signatures short of the required 48,674 signatures to put Personhood on the 2010 ballot.

“These are all volunteer signatures, which is an amazing feat in and of itself.” commented Chet Gallagher, Personhood volunteer. These folks, both with the Montana ProLife Coalition and Personhood Montana, were working nonstop evenings and weekends to collect signatures, while most campaigns hire professionals. The hardworking volunteers see this as a stepping stone to victory in 2011.”

The Montana ProLife Coalition and Personhood Montana see the victory in submitting well over the required number of signatures, though not all signatures were certified as valid. Personhood volunteers collected nearly double the signatures that they collected in 2008, and as the trend continues, organizers are confident that Montana will see Personhood on the ballot in 2012. It has been reported that the CI-102 initiative broke records for volunteer signatures in Montana.

“All unpaid volunteers, this grassroots prolife network will work to influence the November elections and bills during the 2011 legislative session,” pledged Dr. Annie Bukacek, amendment organizer. “The killing of innocent humans is not compatible with a civilized society. We have barely begun the fight for the rights and liberties of unborn babies, and we will keep working at it until their personhood is established in our Montana Constitution.”

“Jesus Christ is building a movement for personhood rights of babies across the country,” explained Cal Zastrow, co-founder of Personhood USA. “He will continue to build in Montana, and they will stand ready. Although this year Montana citizens will not have the opportunity to end baby murder, we know will we have the chance in the very near future to protect every Montana citizen, no matter how small.”
