Flimflam Economics - Deceptive Nonsense
By: Larry Walker, Jr.
Down here on Main Street, while company X is waiting for person Y to pay their past due bill, company X is cutting back on everything it can, and borrowing money to fill the void. When person Y finally gets that stimulus money and pays their debt, company X will use the money to payback what was borrowed. Company X is not aggressively pursuing new business out of fear of attracting more deadbeat customers, but instead is focused on downsizing and preserving trusted relationships. Company X is practicing sound business policy (i.e. fiscal responsibility). After nearly two years of being flimflamed, we find that demand has not been sparked, and that not one new job has been created.
Theory P – Temporary Stimulus Drives the Economy (False)
Rationale: If we give 150 million taxpayers a $400 annual tax credit for working, they will go out and spend it, which will spark additional demand, which will in turn fuel an economic recovery. Once the demand begins, Joe the widget maker will start getting a flood of calls for his product and will hire new employees, and buy new equipment as he expands his operation. So next we will need to make loans available for small businesses so they can prepare for the massive expansion. Problem solved. Government stimulus works, right? Wrong.
In Reality - When the government gives a $400 annual tax credit to a person who is broke, in debt, behind on bills, about to lose a job, or behind on their rent (or house note), it won’t be spent on anything new. It will be either saved, used to pay a debt, expedited to pay a past due bill, eaten, drank or smoked.
Under theory P, when the federal government gives a little extra money to person Y, person Y will go out and buy a new car, or a new house, or I-Pad, or something to help the economy. One problem is everyone knows that what the government is promoting is just a tiny, temporary fix. Lets get real, it’s not like person Y is going to get an extra $400 per month, which would possibly pay a car note. Instead, person Y is receiving an extra $33.33 per month (money that normally goes towards income taxes), and $33.33 per month doesn’t go very far in 2010 (it’s amazing that millionaire, Washington elitists don’t understand this). The clincher is that a stimulus, by its nature, is only temporary. Sure, tax credits were provided in 2009 and 2010, but will be capped off by a massive tax increase in 2011. The proposed tax increase will likely be at least double the pathetic stimulus.
'As the government giveth, so the government taketh away.'
The other part of theory P involves making loans available for small businesses. The loans will theoretically be used to keep the doors open, and to meet payroll while small businesses wait on the massive flood of demand that’s sure to come. The only problem is that the demand came and went with the stimulus checks. So company X is reluctant to commit collateral for additional loans (loans that it may not be able to repay). So the government is encouraging small businesses to take the loans anyway. “Take a chance,” they say. “Hire some people, spend some money, add another location, get things moving and surely the demand will come.” In response, businesses have cut back more, and layoffs persist.
Theory C – Permanent Tax Cuts Do Drive the Economy (True)
Rationale: Under this theory taxes are cut permanently, and incentives are provided for business investment. Let’s give person Y an extra $400 per month, permanently, and see what happens. At the same time, let’s give business X a large incentive to invest and expand. What happens?
The Reality - Initially, person Y will pay off any past due bills, but within a few short months may go ahead and purchase that new car, or a new home, or an I-Pad (or two). Company X will begin to see real sustained demand, and will begin to hire and to think about expansion. With more people working, and with multiples of increased demand, the flame will have been kindled, and recovery will have begun. Tax revenues will increase as the economy grows, and as 15 million unemployed begin to become productive members of society.

The Flimflam Guys - Now, in step the flimflam guys (Krugman, Obama, Geithner, Greenspan, Reid, Pelosi and company) claiming that such a huge tax cut will only add to the current budget deficit.

After adding $2.7 trillion to the federal debt over the past two years and achieving nothing, now these geniuses want to complain about the deficit? Shut the hell up. Sorry but we're not buying it this time. You had your shot and you failed. Those guys that you call the ‘party of no’, you know, the ones who have offered, “Not one new idea,” told you about 'theory C' before you flushed our money down the toilet and you mocked them. Now I guess you have to choose between eating crow, and sending the economy into an endless spiral of debt, inflation and higher taxes.
'If you can’t stand the crow, just add a little more of Krugman's Flimflam Sauce.'
The smart money's on Theory C. Tax cuts work, but they will only work, if you cut spending on everything else across the board, and this is exactly what needs to happen. Cut out the wasteful spending, and give us a real tax cut.

Colorado RTL Apologizes to Constituency for T Party Candidate
Colorado Right to Life
Friday, August 20, 2010
Prior to selecting a "pro-choice" running mate, and just hours after winning at the state assembly, Dan Maes told a pro-abortion media outlet:
“People are overestimating the personhood amendment. It simply defines life as beginning at conception. That’s it. Who knows what the intent of it is? They are simply making a statement. That is all I see it as. Do they have another agenda? I don’t know... Roe v. Wade is the law of the land, and people tend to forget that. I would not try to undo that.” -Dan Maes
In a private meeting shortly after making the above statement, Maes' said that he mispoke and "took it back." We at CRTL should have had more wisdom. We know that "pro-life" politicians typically tell us whatever they think is necessary to get our support. With Maes, we lowered our guard, hoping that a grassroots, tea-party-endorsed, self-proclaimed pro-personhood Republican candidate could be trusted. We see now that we were gullible. We apologize. With the fallen human nature, grassroots and tea-party candidates learn quickly, and can obviously be as deceptive to their base as any establishment politician. Dan Maes selecting a "pro-choice" Lt. Governor shows the apparent truth in his claim that he would not try to "undo" the bloodshed unleashed by Roe. Politicians who cared more about themselves then abolishing slavery held similarly hypocritcal positions. Yet Jesus said, Let your yes be yes, and your no be no. Even if Maes acknowledged the travesty of his LG selection, and dumped Williams, it is hard to see how he could be trusted. But still, for his own conscience' sake, he should do the right thing.
How emphatic does CRTL have to be before our "pro-life" politicians get the point? The only justifiable abortion policy is zero tolerance for child killing.

VA PARENTS ASKED TO SUPPORT GOVERNOR’S STAND AGAINST PLANNED PARENTHOOD SEX ED
American Life League
August 18, 2010
Washington, DC – In the face of intense pressure from the Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia, American Life League is asking parents to support Gov. Bob McDonnell’s continued stand against Planned Parenthood-style sex education.
Judie Brown, president of American Life League, responded to news that Planned Parenthood is conducting a systematic campaign to pressure states to reject Title V abstinence education funding and is instead pushing funding for the new “Personal Responsibility Education Program” (PREP), intended to indoctrinate youth with what Planned Parenthood terms “comprehensive, medically accurate sex education.’” She stated,
“While American Life League has long known that any type of classroom education dealing with human sexuality is bound to fail, the current push by Planned Parenthood is among the most hypocritical steps the organization has ever taken. As purveyors of porn, Planned Parenthood operatives would not know a sound chastity education program if their lives depended upon it."Parents in Helena, Montana, recently got a close-up look at Planned Parenthood-style “comprehensive” sex education and turned out in droves to oppose it.
“Parents across the country are recognizing and rejecting the insanity peddled by Planned Parenthood as ‘education,’” said Rita Diller, national director of American Life League’s Stop Planned Parenthood International (STOPP) project. “We urge Gov. McDonnell to stand strong against pressure from an organization that profits from the sexualization of children.”
A column in Tuesday’s Washington Post highlighted Planned Parenthood’s efforts to pressure Gov. McDonnell to embrace its failed “comprehensive” sex education.
The column quotes Stacey Johnson, spokesperson for Gov. McDonnell, saying the state has until Aug. 30 to decide which grants it will apply for.
“It is important that Virginians who understand that education about sexual matters belongs in the home chime in immediately to support Gov. McDonnell for holding the line against requesting the PREP funding that would likely end up in Planned Parenthood’s coffers,” American Life League told supporters in its Wednesday STOPP Report.
Contact Gov. McDonnell’s office by sending an e-mail via his web site (http://www.governor.virginia.gov/Contact.cfm), by phoning his office at 804-786-2211, or by faxing 804-371-6351.
American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. Pelosi Trying to Intimidate 9/11 Families: N.Y. Rep. Peter King
America's Forum - 'We are the Media!'
Wednesday, August 18, 2010 | Kristinn Taylor
Rep. Peter King (R-NY), the Ranking Member of the House Homeland Security Committee, accused Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) of trying to intimidate 9/11 families from expressing their criticism of the location of the Cordoba House mosque planned for construction in a building near the World Trade Center site that was severely damaged in the September 11, 2001, terror attack that killed nearly 3,000 people.
King made his remarks on the Fox News Channel this morning (video courtesy Mediate):
"I...see it as a threat by the Speaker to try to intimdate people who are speaking out against the location of the mosque. Listen, I can take care of myself, but I'm thinking of the families, the family members like Rosemary Cain, Jimmy Boyle, Debra Burlingame. I mean these are people whose hearts have been broken by September 11th. That wound has now been torn open. Are they going to have to face investigation by Nancy Pelosi somehow implying that they're part of a consiracy?"
Yesterday, Pelosi called for an investigation of the opposition to the Cordoba House mosque:
"There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded. How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we've been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City," hissed Pelosi.-----

America's Independent Party of Washington Endorses Clint Didier for U.S. Senate!
The AIP 'Reagan List' - America's Candidates
August 15, 2010
To the People of Washington,
America's Independent Party affiliates, in Washington and across America, enthusiastically endorse the 2010 candidacy of Republican Clint Didier for the United States Senate. We urge everyone to get out the vote for him on Tuesday in this very important GOP primary.
Our people, principled independent Reagan moral conservatives, believe that Clint is exactly what we're looking for in a Senator. If we don't soon begin to elect individuals of Clint Didier's character and caliber, our beloved country will not survive much longer in liberty. Our situation as a nation is that serious, and that precarious.
The first step to restoring our republic, and the State of Washington, is a return to first principles. Clint Didier clearly understands the self-evident truths the founders of this nation laid out in our great Declaration of Independence. He knows that his primary sworn duty in office is to fulfill the stated purpose of our Constitution, which is "to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity."
Like Ronald Reagan, Clint Didier is a fierce defender of the God-given, unalienable right to life of all innocent human beings, from the first stages of development.
Also like President Reagan, Clint Didier understands that the only way to maintain America's security and peace is to maintain our military strength and preparedness.
For these reasons, and many more, we urge all the citizens of Washington to lend their prayers, time, energy, financial resources, and VOTES to Clint and his campaign. Do your state, and our nation, a huge favor by doing what it takes to elect Clint Didier as your next U.S. Senator.
You can learn more about Clint and his campaign at: http://www.clintdidier.org/home.html
Thank you!
