It should be mentioned that part of one of the hijacked planes went through the building in question. That makes it very much a part of Ground Zero.

Please join with me in prayer for Iowa.
The imposition by judges of so-called "gay" "marriage" upon our state, and the unconstitutional usurpation such "law" making by the judiciary represents, has brought down a cloud of spiritual darkness on this blessed, fertile, fruitful land between the rivers. I can feel it in my bones. I can see it in the people.
And not only must we pray, we must act. Please pray diligently for leaders to arise with the courage to do so, and that all compromised "leaders" be driven from office, before it is too late.

STUDENT WINS FREE SPEECH CASE IN FEDERAL COURT

Washington, DC (13 August 2010) – American Life League celebrated a free speech victory after a federal court entered a judgment on Thursday that a California elementary school and three school officials violated the First, Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights of a sixth-grade student who participated in ALL’s National Pro-Life T-Shirt Day (NPLTD) in 2008.
School officials barred Tiffany Amador from wearing her American Life League T-shirt at McSwain Union Elementary School in Merced, California. NPLTD (now a week-long event) was organized to increase awareness of the personhood of the child in the womb and the tragedy of abortion.
“So often, pro-life students learn that free speech is a constitutional right that, in practice at least, doesn’t apply to them,” said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. “For too long, pro-abortion demagogues have had a stranglehold on the country’s educational institutions and have sought to stifle dissenting opinions – by force, if necessary, as seen in this case. We are so grateful to Tiffany for her courage in the face of injustice – both the bloody injustice of abortion and the tyrannical injustice of government institutions violating free speech rights.”
The shirt featured the word “ABORTION” over a series of panels, two of which depicted pictures of a developing preborn child and the third filled in with black. The caption read, “Growing … growing … gone.”
According to William J. Becker Jr. of the Becker Law Firm, representing Amador, the school claimed the images were “disruptive” because of their “graphic nature” but could not explain what made them so graphic that they would have caused any disruption, much less a substantial one, which the U.S. Supreme Court has held is a requirement for a school infringing upon a student’s expressive rights.
In addition to claiming that her First Amendment right of expression was violated, Amador, who has since graduated from the eighth grade, alleged in the lawsuit that her Fourth Amendment right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure was violated when the school’s secretary forcefully pulled her into the principal’s office because of her shirt.
“Public school employees work for the government,” Becker said. “Any time a school official uses physical force to suppress non-disruptive student expression, the government has gone way too far in enforcing its own political views.”

telegraph.co.ukWhat does it take for a candidate to get the endorsement of a major pro-life organization? Not much.
'The Personhood Imperative'
FRONT ROYAL, Va., Aug. 12 /Christian Newswire / -- What does it take for a candidate seeking public office to get the endorsement of a major pro-life organization? Not much, says a report published by Life Decisions International. In fact, a candidate may receive such an endorsement by supporting only a fraction of the pro-life agenda.
The report, titled "Shootout in the Grand Canyon State: Endorsement Raises Questions About Standards and Faithfulness," reviews key endorsements made by pro-life organizations over the past year, including one backing the reelection of Senator John S. McCain III, despite the fact that he is facing a primary challenge by a far more pro-life former member of Congress.
"This is an important work that asks pro-life leaders and activists alike to decide what is necessary for a politician -- or anyone, for that matter -- to be considered 'pro-life,'" said Thomas Strobhar, chairman of Life Decisions International. "Is a candidate 'pro-life' if he opposes Obama Health Care but supports Roe v. Wade? Is a candidate 'pro-life' if he promises to vote to confirm conservative judicial nominations but favors taxpayer funding of abortions? The Pro-Life Movement is facing these kinds of questions every day and the report suggests that pro-life groups have 'cheapened' what it means to be 'pro-life.'"
"Shootout in the Grand Canyon State" examines the current race in Arizona between McCain and former Congressman J.D. Hayworth, Jr. While McCain has voted pro-life some 77 percent of the time during his career, Hayworth has a 100 percent pro-life voting record. (One year, McCain voted pro-life a mere 33 percent of the time.)
"McCain has a gross misunderstanding of Roe v. Wade and abortion in general," the report claims. "He has not grown or learned more about life issues over the past 20 years. He has just learned how to deflect questions and use rhetoric that sounds good but, when dissected, clearly shows 'the emperor has no clothes.'" Nevertheless, McCain received the backing of a key Arizona pro-life organization. (The endorsement angered many of Arizona's current and former pro-life leaders, most of whom publicly declared their support for Hayworth.)
"The report chronicles an incident in which a well-known pro-life leader who is active on the national and international levels coached a pro-abortion candidate on how to 'appear more pro-life' so he could attract the votes of pro-life Americans," Strobhar said. "It also asks how it is possible for prominent pro-life and pro-abortion groups to both claim victory when certain candidates are elected."
"The Pro-Life Movement needs to examine its soul. Are we a movement without standards? Are we willing to back candidates who are a mere .01 percent less pro-abortion than their opponents? The Pro-Life Movement needs to do much better," Strobhar said. "Politicians should have to work for our endorsement, which would make it valuable -- so it actually means something. We owe it to the many pro-life men and women who support this great cause."
Strobhar said that "Shootout in the Grand Canyon State: Endorsement Raises Questions About Standards and Faithfulness" which may be accessed by clicking here (PDF format), "should be read by every pro-life activist and serious thought needs to be given to the important questions it raises."
Life Decisions International (LDI) is dedicated to challenging the Culture of Death, concentrating on exposing and fighting the agenda of Planned Parenthood. Mission Possible - DAVID JEFFERS
AIP is 'Always In Prayer' Network
August 12, 2010
David Jeffers
Last night Karen and I were watching the Food Network and we saw two episodes of Bobby Flay's "Throwdown" where he is given an envelope of instructions. In these instructions he's told what food dish he has to make and what chef he has to challenge. It reminded me of the old Mission Impossible episodes I used to watch as a child
It starred Peter Graves as Mr. Phelps and he would always receive an envelope with pictures and a tape inside that would start, "Good morning Mr. Phelps. Your mission, should you decide to accept it..." There would be a brief explanation of the mission and then it would finish with: "as always, should you or any of your IM force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions."
And then the most famous part...wait for it! "...this tape will self-destruct in five seconds"
Now that was great television!
What was so intriguing about the show is that I could never figure out how the IMF team was going to accomplish their mission. Thinking back on my late son Eddie's question when he was a boy, "Dad, what if Jesus never came?", I contemplated that this morning in light of today's verse from John's gospel:
"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:17)
Imagine a scene from Mission Impossible with Jesus playing Mr. Phelps' part and God being the sender of the envelope. It might go something like this:
"Good morning My Beloved Son. Your mission, should you decided to accept it, is to save the world from eternal damnation. You will have to leave your throne, be born of a virgin, live the life of a carpenter's son, and you won't get to preach until you are 30. You will be arrested by those you came to save, beaten, scorned, ridiculed, and then crucified and die. But before you die, I will pour all of humanity's sins upon your glorious body and soul and you will die in them."
As a human Jesus might have thought, that's impossible; I'll never accomplish this mission. But He knew His Heavenly Father. Jesus knew that the grace of heaven would be poured upon Him and that is why as a man He prayed constantly. (Most of you missed that) I said, that is why as a man He prayed constantly! And contrary to some New Testament-only Christians, Jesus put His stamp of approval on the Old Testament:
"Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill." (Matthew 5:17)
And unlike the fictitious evil men that Mr. Phelps and his team had to face every week on Mission Impossible, Jesus faced a real and powerful enemy:
"Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted." (Hebrews 2:14-18)
As Christians we can never rightly say, "It's too hard; it's just impossible!" The passage above delivers that response feeble. Jesus knows what we are going through because He went through it; that's what makes Him the Sympathetic High Priest.
After dealing with the rich young ruler, Jesus astonished His disciples with this:
"Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.' When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, 'Who then can be saved?' But Jesus looked at them and said to them, 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'" (Matthew 19:23-26)
So rich people are going to have a hard time going to heaven? Yes, if they love their riches more than God and believe those riches will buy them salvation. But with Jesus, those riches can be used for the glory of God, spreading the gospel, and meeting the needs of the Body of Christ. So being rich does not automatically disqualify you. As Jesus said, with God all things are possible.
I am so glad that my Jesus decided to take on the most important mission ever given and achieved in humanity's history. And because of this mission possible accomplished through the blood of Jesus Christ, at the moment of faith I received a life that is endless and one that is shared with my Lord.
When was the last time you thanked the Savior for life everlasting? Do you think He hears it too much; do your thank you's to Jesus bore Him? I doubt that you and I say it enough to become too much to the Lord.
Do you even have eternal life; are you saved? If not, why not?
Won't you believe unto Jesus and receive this eternal life?
I'll be praying for you.
In Christ
Dave

DISAFFILIATED SAN FRANCISCO PLANNED PARENTHOOD MIRED IN FINANCIAL WOES, GORGED SALARIES

Washington, DC (10 August 2010) – As news that Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, a high-profile California abortion mill, has been disaffiliated from Planned Parenthood Federation of America (its parent organization), American Life League drew attention Tuesday to the organization’s gorged salaries and financial mismanagement.
ALL called for renewed investigations of other affiliates that are drawing heavily on the nation’s overextended tax coffers.
“For over three years, Planned Parenthood Golden Gate has been recklessly spending our tax dollars under abysmal financial management,” said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League. “As more and more Planned Parenthoods either fold or become embroiled in scandal, the nation can no longer afford to fund these culturally and financially bankrupt organizations.”
Sedlak cited data from PPGG’s last three Form 990s – the mandatory IRS accountability documents filed every year by nonprofit organizations.
- In 2006, PPGG reported a total income of $21,411,058, total payroll expenses of $11,704,612 and a profit of $13,927.
- In 2007, PPGG reported a total income of $22,345,629, total payroll expenses of $11,963,224 and a loss of $181,286.
-
In 2008, PPGG reported a total income of $22,462,767, total payroll expenses of $13,801,387 and a loss of $1,883,459.
- Between fiscal years 2007 and 2008, PPGG’s payroll expenses increased by $1,838,163, with absolutely no increase in total income. Thus, the total $1.8-million loss can be accounted for by increased payroll expenses.
In the above-cited years, PPGG received $38,783,043 in tax funding.
Sedlak pointed to PPGG’s increased salary expenditures of $1.8 million in the same year they reported operating at a $1.8-million deficit.
“As more and more financial scandals break at Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country, the time is long overdue for a national investigation,” Sedlak said.
“If it were not for our tax dollars, Planned Parenthood would already be out of business. We now know that the majority of Americans are pro-life. So they are therefore unlikely to want to support the nation’s largest abortion chain,” Sedlak said. “It is a profound injustice to use Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars to fund a business most Americans agree is cold-blooded infanticide."

Washington, DC (10 August 2010) – The newest American Life League Associate group, Life Connections Pregnancy Resource and Referral Center in Prescott, Arizona, exists with three goals in mind, according to Director Diane Duncan: Close Planned Parenthood’s doors in Prescott, speak the truth in love and save babies.
“These are goals we wholeheartedly approve, support and encourage,” said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. “We extend a big welcome to Life Connections, and we look forward to working with them so that each new human being, created by God, is loved, nurtured and protected.”
Life Connections serves as a life-affirming alternative for teens and young adults targeted for abortion by Planned Parenthood. The organization reaches out through sidewalk counseling, prayer ministry, Rachel’s Vineyard post-abortion healing retreats and Silent No More Awareness campaigns. They plan on offering free pregnancy testing, educational materials, counseling, and classes on natural family planning and chastity.
American Life League’s Associate Program is a network of pro-life groups dedicated to the recognition of every human being as a person from his or her biological beginning. As a member of the Associate Program, Life Connections joins over 100 other organizations in over 40 states, Canada, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and the Philippines.

There Be Many That Despise Christ Crucified - DAVID JEFFERS
AIP is 'Always In Prayer' Network

David Jeffers
I’ve heard very few sermons about the brazen serpent that Jesus refers to in John 3:14. However if you search the numerous commentaries and sermons pasts you can find much said. What is the significance of this seemingly obscure verse?
- “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”(John 3:14-15)
Do you remember the Old Testament story Jesus refers to? Most likely reading the Book of Numbers is not high on your list so here’s the story:
- “They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, ‘Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!’ Then the LORD sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. The people came to Moses and said, ‘We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us.’ So Moses prayed for the people. The LORD said to Moses, ‘Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.’ So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.”(Numbers 21:4-9)
So what is Jesus trying to teach us? Plain and simple…faith. If you believe, you will live. Notice that Moses did not write that everyone who had been bitten were saved; he wrote anyone. Surely no one bitten by the snake would scoff at an obvious remedy with scorn? You do understand human nature better than that, do you not?
Do not some of your unbelieving friends scoff at your obvious transformation after receiving Christ? Charles Haddon Spurgeon explains it this way:
- “The remedy of the bitten Israelites was a brazen serpent; and the remedy for sinners is Christ crucified. ‘Stuff, nonsense,’ said some of the children of Israel, when they heard that a brazen serpent lifted up on a pole was to be the means of their cure. Many of them laughed in the jollity of unbelief—absurd, ridiculous; who ever heard of such a thing, how can it be? A serpent of brass lifted up upon a pole, to cure us of these wounds, by being looked Upon! why all the skill of the physicians cannot do it; will a glance at a brazen Serpent do it? It is impossible! This much I know, if they did not despise the brazen serpent, there be many that despise Christ crucified. Shall I tell you what they say of him? They say of him as they did of the brazen serpent. Some Wise one said—’Why it was a serpent that did the mischief; how can a serpent Undo it?’ Yes, and men will say, ‘It was by man that sin and death came into the World, and can a man be the means of our salvation?’”
Another brother in Christ and I are currently in conversation with an atheist, or an unbeliever as he self-describes himself. He scoffs at God and Christ as an imaginary friend; he is very adept at using mockery as are all atheists.
What shall we do with such a man? Pray, pray that the miracle of salvation breaks through such a wicked and hard heart. It is wickedness that causes such mockery and hardness that causes spiritual blindness and pride. It took repentance from the Israelites to look upon the raised serpent; it takes repentance for us to look upon the Cross. In both cases sin has caused God’s judgment and our deaths, both physical and spiritual. If we will look upon Christ, whom became sin for us, and we acknowledge and trust in that sacrifice, we will be saved.
If you believe, you will live.
Any questions?
In Christ
Dave

Pro-Life or Pro-Choice? [Charles Thompson, candidate for Congress - OK-2]
America's Independent Party of Oklahoma
So, what is the difference in those of us who have already been born compared to those that are in the womb?
Four things: S – L – E – D
1) Size. Is a smaller person less human than a larger person? If so, where do we draw the line between small and large? Because I am over 6’ tall does that make me more human than my wife who is less than 5’ tall?
2) Level of Development. The unborn are not as developed as the rest of us. Their livers don’t function as well as ours, they don’t have the reasoning capacity that we do, and they can’t see very well. Because I have a doctorate am I more human than someone with a high school diploma? Doesn’t my degree make me more developed?
3) Environment. Does a person become more or less human as they change their environment? If you are in a swimming pool are you less human than when you are in your home? The unborn is covered in fluid.
4) Degree of Dependency. The unborn is completely dependent upon his/her mother. The ‘just-born’ baby is as well. Throughout our lives we are dependent upon others to varying degrees. We begin completely dependent, progress to less dependence (at least hopefully) then go back to being more dependent as we age.
In order to justify abortion I must make a decision about how small or large a person must be before they can be killed. I must determine what level of development is acceptable and not acceptable. I must also determine which environment is conducive to living and in which it is permissible to kill someone. And finally I must determine what degree of dependency is too much dependency.
As you can see, we have more similarities with the unborn than we do differences. The bottom line is this; if the unborn child can be killed, anyone can be killed. It’s just a matter of definition.
(The SLED acronym is not mine and I do not remember the original author. I heard it several years ago and it made such an impact I’ve never forgotten it.)

Traditional marriage is a matter of natural law, stresses Minnesota archbishop
Secure the Family, Secure the Future
EWTN News
8/8/2010

Archbishop John Nienstedt of the Archdiocese of Minneapolis-Saint Paul expressed his disappointment over U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn Walker's overturning of Proposition 8, which defined marriage as between man and one woman in the state of California.
Responding to the judge's decision earlier this week against the voter-approved measure of 2008, the prelate – in an Aug. 4 in a statement posted on the archdiocesan Catholic Spirit – reminded the faithful, along with “all people of good will,” that traditional marriage is a matter of unchanging and unchangeable natural law.
Archbishop Nienstedt said it was “incomprehensible . . . for the court to deny both the Judeo-Christian and natural law definition” of marriage, as between one man and one woman, “particularly after the people of the State of California had voted as free and responsible citizens to support it.”
According to Archbishop Nienstedt, the federal judge's ruling also shows same-sex “marriage” advocates' willingness to subvert or forgo the legislative process of representative democracy, in order to achieve their aims by other means.
“Having failed to change the definition of marriage at the ballot box,” he explained, “proponents of same-sex 'marriage' have shifted their strategies to using our courts to issue judicial fiats that will do so.”
Citing previous remarks by Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Louisville, Kentucky, Archbishop Nienstedt emphasized the Catholic Church's belief that the state has no right to redefine the family, or change the definition of marriage upon which the family is built.
In Archbishop Kurtz's words, which Archbishop Niedstedt quoted Wednesday, “Marriage exists prior to the state,” both according to divine revelation and human reason. Thus, Archbishop Kurtz explained, marriage is “not given to redefinition by the state.”
Archbishop Kurtz's remarks last month, on behalf of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, implied that a redefinition of marriage by the state could lead to broader assertions of government control over the rights and privileges of families.
The proper role of the state, Archbishop Kurtz had explained in July, “is to respect and reinforce marriage,” not to redefine it.
“That means upholding marriage as a union between one man and one woman,” Archbishop Nienstedt emphasized in his remarks on Wednesday.
Although he described the ruling as “extremely disheartening,” the Archbishop of Minneapolis-St. Paul noted it would “not deter the vast majority of us who believe in and cherish marriage.”
All citizens wishing to preserve the fabric of society, he concluded, should renew their efforts “to defend marriage in this country against the efforts of those who seek to redefine it and to thwart its sacred purpose.”
