Sharron Angle press release on unemployment and Harry Reid - 8-6-2010

Statement on the National Unemployment Rate

August 6, 2010

RENO, NV — On Friday, U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle made the following statement regarding the news that the national unemployment rate remained at 9.5 percent for the month of July:

“When Senator Harry Reid muscled through his $862 billion stimulus he promised it would ‘create or save’ 34,000 jobs in Nevada and the Obama Administration promised the unemployment rate would never surpass 8 percent. Eighteen months later it’s clear that Senator Reid’s stimulus has failed, because Nevada has lost over 64,000 jobs and suffers from the highest unemployment rate in the nation at 14.2 percent while the national unemployment rate remains stuck at 9.5 percent.”

“I am the only candidate with the solutions that will turn around our economy, because I understand that government does not create jobs. Instead of the reckless spending of the Stimulus, we need to help small-business owners create an economic environment that will spur real job creation.”

'Pro-Life' Means More Than it Used to: Who's Pro-Life, Who's Not? [Colorado]

AIPNews.com

America's Independent Party of Colorado

Contact: Leslie Hanks, Colorado Right to Life, 303-753-9394

DENVER, Aug. 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- Colorado Right to Life does not issue endorsements of candidates, but we do separate the "wheat from the chaff" in terms of who is really pro-life, and who is simply using the issue as a prop to get elected.

Both Republican candidates for Governor, and both Republican candidates for U.S. Senate have endorsed Amendment 62, the Personhood Amendment. However, Jane Norton's website says she still supports rape and incest exceptions which would allow an innocent person -- the unborn child -- to be killed.

Personhood is the new definition of "pro-life" in Colorado politics. CRTL believes life begins at the very beginning -- when the sperm reacts with the ovum to create DNA for a new Person with a Right to Life.

We're also greatly concerned about the 3rd Congressional District, where both candidates "say" they're pro-life, but only one candidate -- Bob McConnell -- responded to CRTL's candidate survey. Only one candidate went on record as supporting the Personhood Amendment. And only one candidate seems at all serious about defending the life of the unborn child. "Scott Tipton may think abortion is just an election issue," says Leslie Hanks, VP of CRTL and co-sponsor of Amendment 62, "but it's not. It's a heart issue, and it's a matter of life and death, and we're glad one candidate understands that."

Similar contrasts exist in other legislative races.

The 6th State Senate District (Montrose, Durango, Pagosa Springs) offers a contrast between a 100% pro-life candidate named Dean Boehler and pro-abortion Rep. Ellen Roberts. "Ellen Roberts is the most pro-abortion Republican in the entire legislature!" Hanks said. "Every time she had the option to vote for or against abortion, she voted for it." That's five different pieces of legislation, as shown by CRTL's Legislative Scorecard (2007-2008). Pro-abortion NARAL has rated Ellen Roberts 100%.

In the 2nd State Senate District (Canon City, south Pueblo, Walsenburg, Las Animas) Kevin Grantham is 100% pro-life while his opponent has said on the radio he's "pro-choice."

In Grand Junction's House District 54, Ray Scott is a 100% pro-life conservative running against Bob Hislop. Scott supports the Personhood Amendment, while Hislop does not.

In Douglas County's House District 44, Chris Holbert is 100% pro-life, and has taken the life issue very seriously, attending CRTL's legislative events. David Casiano has also endorsed Personhood and supports CRTL's positions on life issues. But their opponent, Polly Lawrence does not support Personhood, and will only say she is "Personally pro-life" (which is the same thing Bill Ritter and John Kerry said and means "officially pro-abortion").

"The Right to Life isn't just on the ballot in November," Hanks says. "It's on the ballot Tuesday, too, when only some Republicans support the little guy -- the really little guy."

Successful Losing: Obama on Jobs

AIPNews.com

The family farm, home & business

Losing is the New Winning

By: Larry Walker, Jr.

According to today's Employment Status Report, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reveals that as of July 31, 2010 there were 857,000 fewer persons employed than there were in July of 2009. Yet from Barack's glass bubble, it sounded like all is well. Sure, his chief economist, Christina Romer just resigned, but that's no cause for concern. The latest from Obama is that 'private employment has increased every month' during 2010. Really? Does that mean there are more jobs today than there were yesterday?

Following is my latest presidential scorecard, based purely on official BLS data:

Scorecard - Click to Enlarge

Obama was quick to take credit for the false increase in overall employment, earlier this year, when the U.S. Census Bureau hired 500,000 temporary workers, but now that they're all gone he's been slow to acknowledge the true situation. According to the BLS there were 139.8 million Americans employed in July of 2009, and 138.9 million employed in July of 2010. That's a decline of 857,000 jobs over the past 12 month's. There has actually been a steady, and progressive, decline in civilian employment for the past year, but you know, Obama doesn't have time to look at facts and figures.

When G.W. Bush entered Office in January of 2001, there were 136.8 million jobs. When he left office in December of 2008, there were 145.3 million jobs. When Obama entered office in January of 2009, there were 145.3 million jobs. As of July 31st of this year, there were 138.9 million jobs. So when we do the math, there are now 6.4 million fewer jobs than there were when Obama entered office in January of 2009. That's reality. That's what it feels like on the ground. Obama is losing, and losing big. And in his losing, he's dragging America and the Democrat party along for the ride.

Is this what success looks like in the minds of progressive Democrats? Is losing the new winning? If so, Obama is certainly leading the pack. It's time to throw the bum(s) out!

Just so you know that I'm not making this stuff up, here's a snapshot of the latest BLS report:

Washington, DC (06 August 2010)American Life League president Judie Brown issued the following statement on the passage of the new Kenyan constitution which decriminalizes abortion in the cases of rape, incest and the health of the mother.

“We are saddened at the passage of the new Kenyan constitution. No matter how many good reforms are contained in the document, any constitution that enshrines and elevates child-killing cuts off any hope of establishing a rule of law that honors human rights and the dignity of the human person.

“There will be no true justice and no true peace in Kenya while it suffers under a constitution that has as its foundation a blatant bigotry against the most vulnerable and innocent human beings.

“Part of the discussion prior to the vote on Thursday was that amendments to the constitution will be allowed immediately. It is our hope and prayer that the legislators in Kenya will seize this opportunity to correct the injustice and pass amendments that will ensure the right to life of every person from his or her point of creation.”

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. AIP is the Citizen-Led Campaign to Save America

The example set by the people of Missouri is the cure for what ails America

AIPNews.com

August 4, 2010

by Tom Hoefling

Yesterday the citizens of Missouri voted overwhelmingly, 71%-29%, to reject the unconstitutional ObamaCare mandate that forces us all to buy a product we may not want. Of the State's 114 counties, only two voted with Obama, and those were the two biggest urban counties in the state. Every other county voted to reject the Obama socialist scheme. In one county in northern Missouri, the vote was 89.2% against.

That in itself is a earthshaking story. But the backstory is even more important: Proposition C was campaigned for and passed by the people themselves.

By the thousands, regular folks printed their own campaign literature and distributed it door to door in their neighborhoods. They made their own signs. They communicated directly with their own families, friends and co-workers. They made this happen. It wasn't done by political or advertising hacks. It wasn't done with corrosive mountains of political money. This historic effort was truly of, by, and for the people.

I offer my heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the citizens of the Show Me State for this great victory. Some black-robed despot may well step in and lawlessly lay claim to possessing more power than the people themselves, but the message you sent with your support of Proposition C cannot be misunderstood. And the example you have set provides renewed hope to all who believe in American republican self-government.

Now it is time for all freedom-loving Americans to follow the Missouri example and to translate this latent power to electoral politics.

As individuals we must return to America's founding principles, as laid out in the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. We must resolve to never again compromise those principles, not even for perceived short-term political gain. We must then unite with every other American who has made the same resolve. We must raise up new leaders who actually represent us. And then we must do the heavy lifting necessary, right where we live, to put them in office.

The political class says that money is the mother's milk of politics, but it's not. It's one hundred proof corn liquor.

Forget about who has more money. Forget about who has the most television ads. Forget about who can hire the most consultants to shape public opinion and sell their "product" like soap. Look to the candidate's principles. If they agree with the founders, and if you're confident they will adhere to the founder's principles, elect them. It really is that simple. It really is up to you.

The presidency is powerful. The Congress is powerful. The Courts are powerful. But their power is nothing compared to the intrinsic power of the American people, under God. May we rediscover that truth, from sea to shining sea, before it is too late. May that awesome power be excercised soon, before the greatest country in history is utterly destroyed by those who hate it. That is my hope, and that is my prayer.
