The front page of today's Washington Examiner is dominated by a photo of Rep. Barney Frank standing with a Montgomey County councilperson's policy aide. Headline: "Transgender sues under her own law; MontCo aide charges bias, seeks $5M"

The aide, Dr. Dana Beyer, reportedly takes exception with the county ethics commission's investigation into allegation about Beyer: that Beyer used government position to try to intimidate petition circulators while they were gathering signatures outside a grocery store. Here's how the Examiner puts it:

"After a seven-month investigation by the county attorney, the ethics commission found that Beyer violated county law and called for a hearing. Beyer said the commission used flimsy evidence to reach that conclusion and acted outside its normal practices in investigating the complaint. She said the commission authorized an improper search of her work computer without her consent, leaked details of the investigation and threatened to investigate the circumstances of her hiring, all with the goal of 'embarrassing' and 'harassing' Beyer because of her transgender status."

Note: I was one of the volunteer circulators of that petition, including two stints in front of a grocery store

The Montgomery County law, including the 2008 petition drive, was the subject of thread here at the time:
