DIAL “M” FOR MURDER

Russian novelist Feodor Dostoyevsky once said: “If there is no God,
everything is permitted.” I can very easily glean the truth from his
words when it comes to the practice of telemedicine abortions. There can
be no God in the lives of those who deliberately seek to murder innocent
life in the womb, and now this pre-natal murder by phone means everything
is permitted.

Iowa has the positive distinction as “First in the Nation” when it comes
to our presidential caucuses, but now we get the dubious distinction as
“First in the Nation” regarding telemedicine abortions. The nation
closely watches our presidential caucuses, and so does the nation
concerning this controversial procedure. Vicki Saporta, president of the
National Abortion Federation, commented in the New York Times: “… such
providers are watching Iowa with keen interest.”

The telemedicine abortion procedure is performed via a videoconference in
which a remotely located doctor prescribes the medicine mifepristone
(RU-486) to the patient. After ensuring that the patient is ready, the
doctor clicks on a mouse, which opens a drawer containing the abortion
pills. This option is available to women up to nine weeks in their
pregnancy. This procedure has already claimed over 1,500 innocent lives
in the last two years.

It comes to no surprise to me that Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and
other abortion advocates tout how “safe” these procedures are. Along with
the American Medical Association, their concept of safety only applies to
one patient, the woman. There is absolutely no regard for the second
patient, the innocent life within the womb.

I urge each of you to contact the Iowa Board of Medicine and let them know
that you oppose this procedure!

The Committee to Elect Tom Shaw, 341 S 1st St, Laurens, IA 50554.
